Our passion for urogynaecology is celebrating its tenth birthday. With a wide variety of products included in our urological and gynaecological portfolio, urogynaecology already forms part of the DNA of Gebro Pharma.
The urology franchise is one of our strategic pillars and our commitment to urogynaecological patients makes it an area with a long future ahead of it in our company.
It was in 2009 when the range of products within this franchise was released with the introduction of the Vejicur®, indicated in the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. This product has played a decisive role in many patients’ treatment since then.
Later, the family grew by adding Ialuril® and later Ialuril® Prefill. The newest development restores the glycosaminoglycan layer of the bladder urothelium. This imbalance is common in situations such as bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis, as well as in recurrent cystitis and radical cystitis or secondary to antineoplastic agents.
In 2014 Kentera®, the first and only transdermal oxybutynin, joined the portfolio. The Kentera® patch was a revolutionary route of administration and boosted the therapeutic arsenal for the treatment of Overactive Bladder Syndrome. Patients with urinary incontinence found an innovative product with multiple benefits including comfort, safety and therapeutic adherence.
Recently, Tebetane® was added to the product range, having been acquired by Gebro Pharma in 2018. It is a highly consolidated phytotherapeutic drug based on plant extract of the Pygeum africanum tree. Tebetane® has played a key role in the therapy prescribed by many urologists for decades. It continues to offer solutions to control lower urinary tract symptoms in men and women and its safety profile is comparable to that of a placebo.
Finally, in 2019 Ialuril® burst into the urogynaecological therapeutic scene again with ialuadapter®, a disruptive innovation in the route of administration that allows instillation without catheterization, increasing comfort and safety for patients treated with Ialuril® Prefill.
